Notes:  Today our service ended with the announcement of the tragedy many already know about that occurred at Maryville Baptist Church.  As many of you know, Maryville Baptist is 15 minutes down the road from our church and our pastor (as well as myself) know the pastor and many people who attend regularly at the church.  As a matter of fact, my wife was there on Friday night supporting one of her students who takes piano from her at a recital.

Our senior Pastor knew Fred Winters (the pastor at Maryville) very well and was shook up over the whole situation.  We gathered around him to pray, shed tears, and pray for everyone impacted.  Through it all, we know and are striving to keep our focus on the fact that God is in control and He knows what he is doing.  Regardless of the hardship we face in this world and the trouble that comes, it’s a blessing to know God is still in control.

Maryville is close to our church and close to our heart.  We have teamed up with them before as a body and seen many people come to know the Lord through their outreach to the community and we will continue to do that with them as they rebuild.  Please be in prayer for them as a church, Fred’s wife, his two beautiful girls, and that our body can help in whatever way possible.

To God be the glory.

    Jordan

I can’t imagine the shock of the day. I’m glad the Spirit had you covered in worship so that you could be prepared to minister to that church and to your pastor.

    Thanks for posting.

So sorry to hear about your friends at Maryville. Such a sad situation. I pray God will be able to use you and your congregation to minister to them during the healing process.

I too, add my prayers as your community at large struggles with this tragedy.
The set list is amazing, especially when viewed from what happened that day.
