I got into a conversation awhile ago where the individual was talking about when Jesus was on earth, the heavens were empty, or God wasn’t in control while Christ walked the earth.
Sounds good in theory but it’s still false.
Hebrews 2:8 says, “Now when God put everything under him, he left nothing outside his control. However, at the present time we do not yet see everything put under him.“
Take this to heart. While Jesus was on earth, He was still in full control over the universe. That’s pretty clear in the passage. However, that’s not the interesting part that I noticed after the conversation. I think the amazing part of the passage in Hebrews is what follows the statement that God was and is always control. It says, “at the present time we do not yet see everything put under him“.
Ouch.
That hits me to the core.
Everything on Earth is not yet worshiping God.
Sad.
Listen up, this is where you come in.
I think we forget that there’s still work to be done. God might be in control, but He put responsibility on the believers when he “left”. Jesus died on a cross, rose again, and then left the rest of the work up to his disciples. That’s you (if you claim it). He knew that his “part” (if you will) was completed and it was time to give some responsibility over to those who claimed to follow Him.
You want to know how you can show me you love me?
Feed my lambs.
We must not forget that the harvest is at hand and God’s desire is that the harvest is plentiful. That means we need to plant some more seeds, share the good news, spread the gospel. It’s called evangelism, it’s not a new concept, yet somewhere we forgot how important it really is.
The jobs not done.
There work to do.
God didn’t put you here to live the American dream of money, wealth, and personal power. It’s up to us to leverage what we have so that people in this world can we won to the kingdom and we can see all earth worshiping the one who died for them.
Go get it done.
