About me…
1st Ten…
1. I love English Bulldogs. A couple of years back we (my wife and I) went the Olde English Bulldogge (look it up) route. Although he is freaking huge, I love my dog and have a desire to get him a regular English Bulldog as a “girlfriend” someday.
2. I went to a Christian college. It was the best decision I have ever made in my life. I came to know Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, I meet my smoking hot wife, and I learned how crazy Christians truly are.
3. I absolutely love God the Father, His son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit (there all the same person, but man are their functions different). It has taken me awhile to get to that place where I can truly mean those words.
4. I hate school, but I love to learn. I wish I could redo college and not get grades.
5. I work non-stop.
6. I always said I would never go into the ministry because my dad is a pastor and I saw what he went through growing up. God had other plans and here I am, in the ministry. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
7. Every year I do a “personal growth plan” to develop in my relationship with others and grow in my relationship with God. It is the one thing I constantly look to make sure I’m staying on track.
8. I love motorcycles. Every time one goes by I completely lose my train of thought. Someday I want to ride coast to coast on a Harley Davidson road king with my wife.
9. I spend too much time on my computer. Even though EVERYTHING I do is somehow on it (study for messages, my calendar, etc.), I get tired of it.
10. I love the church and everything that goes with it. Everything from the bad, like adults who complain like children, crazy over protective parents, teenagers that don’t “get it”, and over caffeinated kids, to the good, like watching people come to know Christ for the first time, a young person opening their Bible to discover God’s word, teenager who are holding on to every word presented in the Gospel, and adults who constantly humble themselves to learn more. I can not think of anything better to do with my life.
next 10…
11. When I was a kid they said I had ADHD (it was just coming out back then. I was one of the first to get labeled). They medicated me; I saw doctors, physicians, and everyone else under the sun that could, “cure me”. Teachers said I would never read like normal people or go anywhere in life. My six-grade teacher told me I was, “a nobody who should concentrate on dropping out”. I hugged her and told her “thanks for the encouragement” at my high school graduation.
12. I have never fit into one particular group. I have never had a class of friends. I get along with everyone and see people for their potential of who they can become, not who they are on the surface. I believe everyone has the ability to “go somewhere” and “do something” with their life.
13. My wife and I rarely use the words, “I love you”. We both have come out of relationships that abuse the words. We constantly hear people say it with little meaning behind it or have gotten to the place where it’s said “just because”. Instead of saying, “I love you”, we say, “I like you” from time to time. Every time we break out “I love you”, it is said in a genuine context, filled with meaning and emotion. It’s one of the best things about our marriage.
14. I blog about everyday here at theendisforever.com. I used to do it to see how many people I could get to come to my site, now I could care less. The blog has become an outlet that helps me communicate to the world, put thoughts down into words, connect to others in ministry, and interact with others.
15. My dream is to speak full time to conferences, retreats, and seminars while working on out of a local church. I love communicating to people about biblical principles and the love Christ demonstrated towards us.
16. A few years ago my biological father died. We hadn’t spoken for ten years. I made things right, literally on his deathbed, and watched him suffer for hours in the hospital. I don’t think I will ever get over his death. To this day, I think about him constantly and the years we lost.
17. I consider my step dad my real father. I took his last name as a freshman in college. He is the one person who I see parallel to the life Jesus lived. He loves without conditions, he accepts me in my failures, and continues to show mercy and grace daily in my life and those he comes around. My kids will be blessed to call him grandpa.
18. I love warm weather and hate the cold.
19. Almost all my clothing is acquired. Very rarely will I buy something for myself to wear. Everything from my shoes, socks, t-shirts, and even hats have been given to me or bought by someone else.
20. I hate quitting.
5 more…
21. I hate cats but in college I convinced my roommate Justin that we should get one. I named her Mexico and to this day I claim she is the only “cool” cat alive. We thought for the longest time she was a boy cat until the vet told us differently.
22. I love baseball. Everything about the game warms my heart.
23. I learned to play guitar by myself. I bought my first guitar when I left the house after high school. When I was growing up my mom made me play the piano for nine years and I hated ever minute of it. She wouldn’t get me a guitar because I would play, “the devils music” on it. To this day I still play the guitar and lead worship in various places.
24. I can genuinely say my wife and I are “destined to be together”. Not a lot of people think about marriage like we do. We spent a lot of time dating and learning about each, testing each other before we got serious. As I continue in the ministry, I can see how God put us both together to accomplish His will. We compliment each other in ways I never knew were possible. I am constantly encouraged by her love for life, the Lord, and sweat pants.
25. Coming up with 25 random things about yourself takes a long time…
Your turn!
