NOTES: We started the service with two upbeat songs to welcome everyone in and celebrate what God has done through out the week. (No merging this week, we went from one song to the next without any transitions). As we finished the second song, we had the people welcome each other by meeting and greeting as the band finished.
We then went into something “new” that we are just kicking off. We had the normal offering as usual but then we went into scripture readings. Today, one of our elders came up to read scripture based of the text of the sermon. This is something old, true, but very powerful. I never get tired of hearing the word of God read aloud.
We also had a “special” song where our pastor came up and told a story about the song we were going to sing (in this case, Holy, Holy, Holy). It means a lot more to sing a song when you know the message behind it. Again, this is something old, but very powerful.
The message was also great, giving new light on demon possession and the presence of evil. I think people were thinking and that’s always a good thing. We finished out with “overcome” by the Desperation Band. It was a little slow at the beginning but picked up nice.
How was your celebration this Sunday?

Marvelous Light. Lots of themes have been hitting on light of late. I wonder what’s going on? God moving or His people yearning?
Overcome is on my list of songs to do… I love that one! I hadn’t thought of Holy, Holy, Holy… I’ll have to look that one up again too.
Sounds like a great set!
We did “Overcome” this Sunday also! Our church loves this song!
